AOL’s Patch is trimming back on some of its sites, merging two pairs of New Jersey sites and one pair of California sites. (Sample merger announcement: “It makes more sense to our readers and advertisers to combine the two sites; so often we’ve found that news in one town is of interest to residents of the other.”) If these work out, expect more in 2012, Ad Age says.
