That’s beginning next month. HuffPost has maintained one of the most voluminous and active comment communities since launch: 260 million comments in all, with readers leaving as many as 25,000 comments an hour at times. But the vitriol and bad behavior of the anonymous crowd has become too much, according to Arianna Huffington. Speaking at a conference earlier today, via Giga OM:
“I feel that freedom of expression is given to people who stand up for what they say and not hiding behind anonymity,” she said. “we need to evolve a platform to meet the needs of the grown-up Internet,” she said.
It’s unclear yet what method the site will use to identify commenters or whether they will follow the lead of other sites and use Facebook or Twitter credentials.

Define Freedom of Speech: “the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint”
“Freedom of expression is given to people who stand up for what they’re saying and who are not hiding behind anonymity,”
Point blank, you can’t give something to someone that already has the right to do so. Make all the excuses for why you companies want to identify people, but i suspect it has to do with big brother’s NSA programs.
You can’t stop people from saying whatever they want when they want. If you do, some where down the line it becomes oppression. Everyone is not nice, they don’t act nice, think nice and play nice. The same as in the real world.
“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.” I run an a opinionated website, if someone posts a comment that’s off topic, I reserve the right to remove it. If someone’s on topic but says something nasty, borderline racist, wrong, hateful why remove it? I’ll just become no better then a dictator, manipulating public opinion if I do. What’s the point of free speech if you have to sugar coat everything? You have the right to say something and with hold your government name. Your name doesn’t change your viewpoint, it only makes you a target.
HUFFINGTON POST IS NOT ONLY KILLING ANONYMOUS POST, BUT ALSO CONSERVATIVE POST…ANY ANTI–GAY —IMMIGRATION—BLACK COMMENTS ARE DELETED… HUFFINGTON POST IS BIAS AND ANTI–FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. THEY ARE USING THEIR NEWS NETWORK TO FAVOR LIBERAL AGENDAS.
ANY COMMENTS OPPOSING GAY MARRIAGE—IMMIGRATION—AMNESTY—-ANY COMMENTS FAVORING THE BORDER WALL –ANY ANTI–OBAMA –DEMOCRATS COMMENTS ?? THE PERSON WHO POST THEM ARE AUTOMATICALLY PUT ON 24–7 COMMENT PENDING APPROVAL AND MOST COMMENTS ARE DELETE IT…..THE COMMENTS ARE IN THE GUIDE LINES, IS JUST THAT THE LIBERAL MODERATORS DO NOT LIKE THE COMMENT.
COMMENT PENDING APPROVAL IS ANTI–AMERICA—ANTI–FREEDOM OF SPEECH…MANY OF MY COMMENTS ARE IN THE GUIDE LINES BUT THEY PUT ME ON 24–7 AUTO COMMENT PENDING.. ALL WHO ARE OPPOSE TO IMMIGRATION—GAY MARRIAGE—IMMIGRATION—AMNESTY AND PUT ON A 24-7 COMMENT PENDING AND THEIR COMMENTS ARE NEVER SEEN….LET THE PEOPLE SPEAK THEIR MINDS, WHAT ARE THE LIBERAL AFRAID OF ??? LIBERALS AFRAID TO DEBATE THE ISSUES WITH CONSERVATIVES ???
they cannot silence us we are anonymous we are legion we never forgive we never forget expect us!!!! anonymous neo2013 cnn were coming we dont care what you do but be warned we have a right to freedom of speech Arianna Huffington
Huffinpost has become just that! They are deliberately numbering and grading us like cattle for the advertisers and leaving many open to be victims of Internet fraud! This is not about controlling the disgusting trolls its about controlling and trafficking and drumming up business for the advertisers to target!
They are not just killing anonymous comments. I went through the credentials process and still at least half of my (conservative) comments get deleted. Every time I post I get a message that says it is pending moderation and I always get this at the bottom, “Due to the potentially sensitive nature of this article, your comment may take longer to appear publicly.” Often it never appears.
I wish someone would investigate this because of the liberal slanted nature of this blog/magazine. To a casual observer of HuffPo, 95% of the internet takes the liberal side, not knowing that other inconvenient opinions are deleted regularly.
So apparently, Arianna Huffington’s idea to “evolve a platform” is to censor and skew the opinions to resemble her concept of a “grown up internet”.
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!
