Futurity is a nonprofit news service that distributes articles about universities’ scientific research.

The site was founded in 2009 by a consortium of research universities as a way to supplement dwindling coverage of science and health research. The group includes more than 50 universities from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

The site is funded by membership fees. It uses social media to promote stories and has released a mobile app. It is populated largely by articles written by university public relations staff, which has raised questions about completeness and objectivity.
