West Seattle Blog is an online-only hyperlocal news operation that covers several neighborhoods in West Seattle.

The site was founded in December 2005 by Tracy Record as a personal blog but became a news site in 2006. In 2007, Record and her husband, Patrick Sand, began selling ads and working on the site full-time. It has a dozen contributors.

By 2008, West Seattle Blog was making enough money to support the family, making it Seattle’s first self-sustaining online local news organization. The blog reported 9.3 million pageviews in 2010, up 12 percent from the year before.
