In the past 10 years, newspaper sales have fallen from 13m a day to just over 7m. The performance in June has only slowed that long-term trend: an extra 2.7m copies were sold in the past month compared with May, but in contrast with this time last year total sales of all titles are down 2 per cent. —JL
